If you should end up with any ugly spots in the final finish you can lightly "nib" it out with 1200 grit or finer wet and dry. Use a light touch and keep checking to make sure you have not cut through the Laq'. When happy use T-cut and good polish to put the shine back in.

Used this technique quite a few times to take light scratches out of paintwork were the scratch has not gone through the Laq'. Even works on stuff like indicator lens etc.
