I think Bungi might be talking about the Racetec rain tyres, which are very good.  They are quite a bit better than the old block type tread and there wasn't much wrong with them either. These tend to last just slightly longer especially on a drying track. Definitely recommended, but then so are the Michelin and Dunlop wets. What have you used up to now or is this the first rain tyres you're tyring? Riding on full wets in the rain is a complete head thing.
