Clutch plates & basket

Hi There,
Just had my first service done (under my ownership anyway) at Ducati Leeds. All went well but I've been told that I need to replace the clutch plates and basket in the near future as there is sign of wear. The bike is a 748 year 2000 and has done 6,500 miles. As I'm not picking her up until the weekend would you recommend I bite the bullet and ask them to do this at the same time ?
I'm not technical enough to attempt this myself. Being a Yorkshireman, is it worth me trying to source these parts elsewhere and take them in to fit or do they cost pretty much the same at most dealers ?
Any advice appreciated.
