I've got a 748, and it fits fine, the inner end of the lever / adjuster hits the foam surrounding the clocks when putting the steering lock on, but then my original one did too. Other than that, clearance is fine.
I could probably adjust it further, but it's not an issue to me when riding, so I'm leaving it alone.
