Ex Army Paratrooper (in Italy 12/15 months service in the army WAS compulsary!!) and finally Mechanical engineer, working for a big US firm that is taking me all around the world... Oil & gas sector... Europe Commercial/sales Region Manager..
Fluent in Italian and trying to learn a decent English
In UK now (again) coming from 6 years of US, 2 years of Aberdeen, 1 year of North Italy, half in the South of Italy plus HQ time (17 years with the Company) ..and originally from Florence Tuscany.
Hobbies/sports - too many -
Time - not enough - scheduling weekends dividing family time, training, fun..
GOOD at : windsurfing (wave) 19 years keeping counting
Skiing (Italian UISP Instructor ..not FISI..practically I am an instructor of "second" division!) now not skiing due to working location (UK) - Motocross (still riding..when I can...)
BAD at but still trying.. cycling (MTB and road) , riding my 999 on a track..

Can be useful for Italian trips tips and free translation to the DSC members...

stu748r i understood it all mate!!! i too have loop 6.5-20x40 but on a .243--- my weapon of choice for field target competition(air rifle) anschutz 2002 .177 airmasters tuned up to 12ftlb with delrin seals and side lever mods with one piece rail to carry a burriss 8-32x44 ra with fine duplex ret- not as sharp as the loop but a lot more stable and accurate for parrallexing distance in varying temparatures!!! very consistent rifle over the chrono at 795 fps witha 8.4 grain pellet good enough to put 1/4 inch groups in at 55yds off the arm-- i use a brno .22 and .243 for vermin control- as well as a theoben rapid17 and feinwerkbeau 6ftlb for the quieter jobs

What the hell do you shoot with the Feinwerkbau"Fine work shop"as 6ft lbs which is "off ticket for an air pistol"is like taking an A P 50 rounds Brands!!!!

I think my Uncle would love to chat to you two blokes, he does all his own homeloading etc. I never really got into it.

Competition shooting in the Army was as close as I got. I was only ever good with the L1A1 SLR 7.62 rifle. I came second in my battalion. I didn't really get on with the F88 Austeyr 5.56 - felt too plastic'y' and lightweight.

At least with the SLR there was more carnage

SLR, hmmm... t'was my favourite. 8" group at 400 yards was the best I could do tho

nick--- your SLR probably wasnt straightened out mate "they're all like that sir"-- with a bit of fettling and a good barrel and a bit better ammo than the MOD can supply is easily capable of 'sniper accuracy'-- only ever used one when in the TA shooting fig 8's at 600m
