Confused me as well.

The standard light on my SS has a reflector built into the lens and this has always been adequate for the MOT. All the bikes I have ever owned have had the reflector in the lens.

I would say that the reflector is separate from the lens that covers the bulb. In the case of the SS it is above the bulb.

Can go on the rear number plate as long as it does not obscure any of the main letter markings.

Frank,

Where do you get stick on round reflectors from, I 've searched all my local bicycle/bike shops to no avail!

Cheers,

My lights needed re-aligning so the MOT station/garage did it for me for free, and it passed with no rear footpegs.

I do vaguely remember something about seperate reflectors from a few years ago!

Just as a bit of a follow on.....
I took two bikes for MOT last weekend. As I pulled up outside the MOT garage,I could see the tester was polishing his ZXR750.Could'nt help noticing the small no. plate and lairy can."Gonna be alright here!" me thinks.
Well both bikes sailed through,....I knew they would,..and I asked the question regarding reflectors.Yep you need a rear reflector and no it does'nt have to be separate. So the tester should'nt have failed the SS for that.
