Is there not a cdi type conversion for an early Beetle ? they were 6v electrics. May be able to make it fit your ford as a last idea.

might be worth you contacting the rally organiser tho as the club has been going for years. They deal with mainly 40's Fords and older so someone there will be able to help you fix the prob.

Good luck, and when you get a late 60's or muscle car, I'll be able to help more myself

Thanks for the link phoenix, this part is also used on the uk ford v8 pilot aswell, I'll give them a call in the morning, I'll get my cam out and upload some pics, its a real bonnie and clyde type of car, one bench seat in the front, and a dickie seat that srings out from the rear by the spare wheel.
