Have to agree, too much carbon on display is a baaaad thing. I thought the same when I first saw some all-carbon 916s back in the day. Nothing looks cooler than well-painted carbon with just a little of it showing through (996r).
Agreed aswell far far to much carbon on display. Question is why spend all that money on 'last years' model!
