Not a sweet but an ice cream. Can't remember what they were called but they were made by Walls and had toffee in the middle. I think they were named after one of the characters from the Beano?
Any other ice creams that were good but long gone?

yeah ditto, I think curly wurlies were bigger and it's not cos i'm bigger now either...

I think just lately the Cadbury's twirl bar has got shorter too, not happy with that, even tho you get 2 sticks, they're small.

Oh, and yes I remember the mint toffo's too, and the noise the sweeties made in their little boxes with the punched out thumb bit where they fell out..

Hey talking of that, do you remember the PEZ sweets? they used to have popeye at the top you'd lift his head and a brick like candy sweet used to come out...

Gosh yeah. You could get all sorts of strange looking heads. Those sweets were just rock hard, and ya mum would clip ya ear for crunchin!!!

haha yeah and reading your message made me laugh as I had to think twice what it was that made you say all them strange looking heads, so i had to re-read the last thread (oops mine) to work out what you were on about.. ha ha oh dear, I'd get some funny looks if people could see me!

Mind you, I liked Jamboree bags that had a few cheap sweets and a tacky plastic toy in them. And those tubes of bright yellow sherbet with a liqourice straw. Then there things that I think (believe it or not) were called Jubblies...a sort of ice lolly in a pyramid shape. One of my favourites were things called, rather imaginatively, Potato Puffs...which were, surprisingly enough, puffy bits of hollow potato shaped a bit like a mini shredded wheat but about half the size. They're not around any more, the nearest thing to the taste of them is Hoola Hoops, but obviously a completely different texture.

Lucky bags.....which were the same as Jamboree bags, and Mojos ( four for a penny , or a farthing each ) and little plastic cocktail glass shape full of hard chocolate with a minature plastic spoon.

Yeah Mav and didn't the machines have fruit & nut bars too and the wrappers were always really ropey looking but you just died for that choccie moment
