Hi all, do any of you use a gps or radar alert type system?

If so which one and how good is it?

I have a Geodesy system which has never let me down. However, it only knows the fixed camera's and cannot warn you of mobile stuff. If I was to go through the exercise again, would probably opt for the Raod Angel which should detect and warn you of most stuff, but you need to be aware the nanny state is or has outlawed them. Would still use one and take my chances tho.

If you've got a PDA, there are several GPS add-ons that you can get - they can plan routes and you can download overlays with positions of (only fixed I think) speed - sorry, safety - cameras. TomTom Navigator is apparently recommended (there was a post on this thread ages ago about this).

thanks lads.

after a lot of looking on the net and talking to suppliers i decided to go for the snooper s4r with raidar and laser detection.

It is quite small, about the size of a mobile phone and identifies all current piggy banks sorry safety cameras

Cost £340 then you fay £5 a month for the gps updates.

Should come tomorrow will let all know how it goes

I've got the same system as Yeti. Had it since they first started building them (Unit no 15). Updates are £35 / year, and it's never let me down

There was one on Ebay a couple of days ago.

I've tried the TomTom add ons, and they're good, but not upto date and rely on people submitting updates to them, so coverage is quite erratic.

Interested to know how you fare with the Snooper, as I ditched mine due to persistent false alarms.

Ditto with the Snooper, it FA'd so much I found I just couldn't rely on it. Cry wolf and all that.

I've got a Geodesy,but recentley purchased a Road Angel2,but as good as it is,& it is good,it's no good for a bike,mine anyway,cos it's too big !! & you can't mount it anywhere.But great in the car.

Where you can mount it you can't see it,as it needs to look thru the screen in order to function correctley,theres a firm on e-bay,selling a product called "Bikeflash "for about £60 !,you plug it in to Road Angel,which allows you to remote mount your unit,out of the way,but rendering the laser facility of the unit inop !!warnin you with a series of LED's,so why buy one ??

Geodesy is the best unit @ the minute for the bike,imoa,as it's small & compact & waterproof,but don't do laser !having said that,most that do only let you know you've been zapped ! i.e Road Angel ! & don't warn of up & coming laser sites.

Micro pilots worth a look though !

Yetis also right,theres a law trying to get through,banning all but the gps based units,so the ones that offer laser warning & scramble signals,will be deemed illegal,the current gps based ones,like geodesy will still be ok,@ the moment !

yeah yeah, and then the F*****G Nannystate will ban those as well - or Brownturd will tax them!

Managed to fit my snooper s4 today, not easy as like you say no room! My R1 has very screen/clocks room in the first place but to be honest it fits quite well.

The unit is on the screen just above the tacho and the laser unit is on the inside of the faring adjasent to the fork leg.

I was informed that the one to go for was the S4 because the previous s6 kept giving faulse allarms!

Which snooper did you have lads, please dont say 'THE S4R!!'
