Always remember Peely for playing the more obscure bands and giving them a chance on the 'big stage'. Never forget the Guanabatz doing 'Dynamite' or Pink Peg Slax... Ahhh them were the dayz.

RIP Maestro....that's one helluva void that I don't think can be filled..

without wanting to sound like a stuck record ditto all the above he had a profound effect on my musical taste and a lot of bands owe him big time for their stardom.

non stop tribute playing now on radio 1 turn off the tv and stick the radio on some class music playing

Very sad news indeed,
Some guy texted Radio 1 this morning @530 am as I was driving to the station.

Top life, top bloke, if God is a DJ he'll have to share the deck!

My condolences to his family and friends.

RIP

Yes a great, great shame but possibly a blessing as I understand he had a cancer and when you've gotta go quick is gotta be better than slow.

Happy daze listening to JP with my tranny and ear piece under the bed clothes (ooh er missus ) as a young teenager in the early 70's.

Even a couple of bands from my school managed to get on Peely's show.

JP you will be missed .............. hope you're listening to 'Teenage Kicks' to your hearts content now.

I think today Mr Peel would have been nodding his head to the music as he swung his legs on his cloud!

Radio 1 has paid an absolutely amazing tribute to him today...He would have been proud
