Worth while checking out the guys at Image Works in Ilkeston in near J26 of M1 for graphics.

Both guys are ex- Dream Machine and have every graphic you would ever need on file. If it's not on file or you want a special they will make up anything you want.

I can reccomend them to anyone.

I read in a magazine a while ago that you could apply the decals to a surface dampened with something, either diluted washing up liquid or hairspray (can't remember, might not even have been these two!!!), to allow you to position them correctly. The said substance would then dry, leaving the decal as stuck as it should be. Is this right, or have I dreamt it all up?

Yep - the old diluted washing up liquid will do the trick.

Cheers Tim, I was gonna use that tip to fit the number board on my 749, hope I don't cock it up (like every other DIY venture!!!)

Whoah....DIY overload! You haven't seen my previous attempts at applying lacquer to a seat cowl :P

I will HAVE to leave it to the professionals! Cheers for the advice though...

so the best bet to save cash then is to apply stickers personally and then pay to get the panels laquered

If you're as good at spraying as me, thats probably your best bet! Having said that, even I wouldn't take advice from me

Guys an even better tip is to have a small film of water and washing up liquid on the panel, apply the decal and it will "float". When in position use a credit gard or similar and squeeze the water out from under the decal.

DON'T put loads of water on the panel, just enough to give a thin film.

If you want the "factory" look then get it laquered, but, you could leave it as is and swap and change decals as the mood take you.
