Depends what you call English [British] cars. We produced 1.8 million cars last year on British soil. The owners are foreign though.

I guess it's not Henner's point. How many of those 1.8 millon cars can be labelled as English (even British...) cars? If Jaguar, Bentley and Austin Martin produce 1.8 million cars then I will be quite impressed.

Anyway I'm sure I miss other brands, my point was just that England (or Britain again...) is no longer a country people can think about when evoking the car mass production, as France can be.

Instead of that you've kept your luxury car production. Which I think is good. And to come back to Henner's point, I think I (and a lot of people) can't afford a luxury car.

Unfortunately mate Jaguars are posh Fords, Bentleys are VW's with knobs on and Aston Martins are slightly posher Fords than Jaguars. So even these aren't really British anymore.

I'm also proud to be English, just slightly disappointed that our national flag has been taken over by people who pronounce the name of their mother country 'In-gah-lund'

Snob? Me? Oh alright then...

Agree it's a shame. But I gotta contradict you:
I can see France from where I live and drive there quite frequently, and I see loads of houses with the French flag on all year round. Also see plenty of cars with the French flag on them.

Mind you, there are loads of them Frenchies wishing they were Swiss as they also display the Swiss flag next to their French flag!! Even funnier though, is the Swissies don't show any French flags - they don't want to be French! So amusing.....

Ade.

so on that basis, anyone flying a flag from their car can only do so if the car is british made ? it would be extreme to think that anyone who wishes to display their patriotism, can only do so if everything they use in life is "made in england", otherwise their patriotism is invalid......??

So we don't know the same France. I must have seen French flags displayed by people something like 3 or 4 times in my life. I see the Union-Jack or the St George cross in gardens almost every day...

No way they wish they were swiss They may want to work in Swizterland to earn as much money as they do in Switzerland. They may also want to live in Switzerland because it's a beautiful and calm place but that's it. But being SWISS? You crazy? Swiss people are not very well seen in France, mainly because of the role they played during WW2 I guess...

There are 2 Switzerland, the German one and the French one. People living in the German one are the idiots (*)
