service pack 2 removal
there was a thread a while back about windows service pack 2 it has just finished downloading onto my pc (didn't ask for it ) i was pretty sure it would be sp 2 as it took a long time so i clicked on custom install and cancelled the upgrade.

if you cancelled the upgrade, then it's not on there and you don't need to uninstall it.

You may have the cached install files though, sounds like you have auto update enabled (right click My PC and turn it off in there if you don't want it).
Have a look for the downloaded files in

\windows\software update
or
\windows\windows update

I think that's where they get dropped....
