Dog, could you measure the distance between the mounting holes for us. That'll be the quickest way to see if the'll fit. Standard mirrors (at least on the better looking SS's) are truly awful.

My SS mirrors are fantastic - I get a beautiful view of BOTH elbows

Hmm,interesting.I guess you could make them fit,but would it be worth it?
999 mirrors fit on the bike the same way as the 748/9** series. They have two pegs that you push into a clip and then a central shear bolt to stop them falling off.I guess these pegs could come out and be replaced with threaded rod or something?I'm not sure if they are threaded tho!
You might then be able to use the SS mounting bracket. The fixing centres may be differant,so be prepared for some drilling! You would then have to drill an extra hole for the indicator wires and run them down the fairing stay to pick up the SS wiring. The wires are a bit short,so may need extending.
I'm sure the mirrors would look great on an SS,but of little use. They would be a lot narrower than the origionals,so dont expect to see a lot out of them.On the 999 you have to get used to looking under your elbows.
