Cast Iron Fire Places
I've got a Victorian cast iron fireplace that i'm restoring but its missing its ash box and decorative front and also its cast iron mantle piece. Its a small bedroom type fire.

Anyone know where i can get bits like that from?

Also anyone got any cast iron fire places thay want to get rid of? Complete ones only though please.

Right, Rockhopper, have just checked and see that you are an overnighter on Friday. So, nab me in Bologna and I shall give you details of the 2nd hand shop at Colney Heath, near Hatfield, that specialises in exactly the kind of stuff you're looking for. Depending on your travel arrangements, I could point you in their direction on Saturday afternoon, even lead you there if you wish, and you can browse the 2nd hand bits of cr@p ... sorry, desirable fireplace artefacts, to your hearts content .... and take them back to your neck of the woods.

Don't say I never do anything for you

I am staying Chez TrickyDickie Thursday night, so will see you Friday.

This place I'm talking about is a reclaim/builder/scrap yard kinda deal with a massive selection of original crud, sorry, reclaimed fireplace furnishings. I have no idea whether that's a common thing or a unique deal but they have some superb pieces of marble, granite, wrought iron victorian complete fireplaces. Although having said that, I haven't been there for over a year so they may have closed down! Let's discuss what you need, me acting as agent and sourcing what you want for a small fee, 10% DSC discount applies, obviously. Hey, I need the income.

Pity I've rushed things becasue i wont really have time to take any measurements before the weekend. I've spent the last two nights stripping paint off the thing! Why anyone does that to them is beyond me. My new house has got five fire places and they have all been boarded over so i need another two bedroom ones and two bigger ones for downstairs. A coal fire in the bathroom - how cool is that!!!

There is a massive recycling building stuff place north of Stanstead (actually just South of Cambridge) just off the A11-can't remember the name but it's HUGE.

You mean Fireplaces are made of cast iron?

How do Honda make them weigh less than a Duke then
