cleaner?

spent the afternoon stripping and swapping bits on the bike.. wheels, rearsets, clutch, hugger etc....

one of the items to replace is the carbon tank protector. The old one came off fairly easily but has left a godawful sticky gloop on the tank.

I have a new one to go on, but want to clean it off first. I tried various 'substances' but nothing had any effect other than justsmearing it around or making it stickier.

Anyone got a suggestion for what to use? I don't want to damage the paint on the tank.

Why not try that nail varnish removed you slapped on my laptop.... that worked well!!!

You need to soak it, get some WD on it, failing that I have some Isopropanol wipes at home

tried wd... no effect

and i think i will give the nail polish remover a miss, we dont want to go down that route again

Try petrol - there must be some lying around there somewhere!!!!!

yup, it was starting to look a bit untidy round the edges. I had bought a new one so decided to replace it

I've got one of those Black & Decker multi-sander thingies - if you use the most abrasive pad that'll get it off fer sure!
