riding position???...a question for you all!
After my trackday at Cadwell i've been practising this "bumm off the seat" thing!
My confidence has gone up no end and I dont feel tense when cornering...I doubt the knee down thing will happen but that's by the by...
The thing is I feel sooooo slow, but yet at one point I looked down and I was exiting a corner way faster than I thought I was AND coming off a corner into a straight I looked down and I had topped a ton within a few secs (well quick anyway!)

Why do you feel so slow???...Why is it just by changing body position your whole "feel" for speed is "disabled". Is `this just me or is this normal? Or is this expected when you increase in confidence a "bit".

I'm not sure it's anything to do with hanging off. You said "My confidence has gone up no end and I dont feel tense when cornering..." and I bet that's why you're cornering faster, relaxed and free flowing makes all the difference. If you're thinking about it, you're probably holding the bike back. Just my £0.02 worth.

Could be that the thighs are more muscled than the glutus maximus and hence more able to "force" against the g-force, hence you aren't feeling the kinetic movement in your posterior.
(gosh, that almost sounded intellectual - ward nurse will be proud)

yo kb id say it's all down to your confidence

i get days when i feel like im pushing my luck on some bends, yet i know ive gone round them much quicker.
and other days you and the bike feel so planted you could do anything

I know exactly what you mean, when I hang off, I get less lean angle and if feels really slooooww, not looked at speedo but dont think it is actually any slower, I reckon its because the bike is more upright and your body is more vertical so your head is further from the tarmac, hence feels slower. Not sure if this makes sense....

and I've just got back from a ride..yipee SUN!!

KB it not so much that by hanging off you feel slower, its more like you have got use to the speed and have aquired a taste for it. What ever you do in future, don't look down at your speedo. If you feel tempted too, tape it up to reduce the temptation. You know what they say about heading where you are looking. Keep your eyes fixed on the point you wish to aim for all the time.
