900SSIE wont start poss pump prob

HELP PLEASE
my bike wont start turn ignition no whirrring from pump , fuse ok , stuck meter across pump connections and when ignition turned on 12v across wires ok , if pump connected direct to battery it turns no probs but wont turn when connected back on to pump terminals although 12v is present . Is pump knackered

is there 12V on the wires when the pump is connected or is it with it disconnected, if its the later I would be interested to know if the voltage is getting pulled down when connected to the pump.
Could be a dirty filter causing the pump to try and pull to much current and causing a voltage drop.

All sorted it was the relay altough working there was a big resistance through it... also this relay is prone to failing alot , when i went to get new one , they said they kept plenty in stock as they were the most unreliable relay in the world..

That'll be the same relay they fit on Monsters then!

We keep a spare one under the seat on the missus bike.

YES i brought 2,,, 1 as a spare under the seat ,..

I think its also the heat from the engine that affects the relays.On the Monsters they sit next to the battery right above the engine.My wifes bike would often cut out when the bike was hot,but never when it was cold.

Aargh this may answer a problem Ive been having on my 1000SS! When she gets very hot the revs take on the habit of dying off before the engine finally stalls. I was thinking of tweaking the idle speed to stop it happening but it doesnt do it when its cold/warm so Im a bit loathed to do that.

A case of putting up with it and adjusting the cold start lever to stop it stalling I suppose...
