ECU Problem
Hi all

I have bought a Termi 50mm System for mi 749.Once I had fitted everything on the bike ie ECU/Air filters etc went to turn the key and the lights come on but the starter motor doesnt kick in. Then proceeded to put the ECU back to the origanal and the bike kicked to life straight away!! Asked the chap who sold me the system and he said the ECU supplied needs programming to my bike is this correct??

cheers

Yup, sounds about right, basically from what little knowledge I have on this, as soon as the ECU is used for the first time it is programmed to that key/clocks.

No idea if you can get it reporgrammed or not though, you would have to contact a dealer, or you could just go down the power commander route and use your existing ECU

thanks jpm,

whilst I understand if its been used once on another bike it cant be used again apparently. However this is a new ECU, is this normal and does it need programming to my specific bike?

No there is no programming required to get it to run- only the mixture and throttle position need setting
It should certainly fire up even without any of these being set though!

should work ok if new !!

if you can't sort it out then a power commander with original ecu will get same results-- even better with half a day on dyno.
