749R Owners, Rear seat question ?
When I picked my bike up from its service there were two other 749R bike there and both had carbon rear seats with the carbon showing through around the mesh vents while mine is just a standard red painted plastic job (see picture)

I asked inside and was told that Ducati just fit whatever they have lying about at the time and it was pot luck if you got a carbon one or a plastic one .

What is everyone elses like ??

what Model/Registration year is yours ian??

04 was the year that they used full carbon on the 749R's, so if yours is an 04 then it should have the Carbon Jobbie.

Yes it is the 04 model, everything else is carbon apart from the rear seat unit and I did not realise until today that ' some' other bikes had the carbon version, so I thought that I would ask on here first before I get on my high horse with Ducati to find out why mine has not been fitted.

the normal spec on a 2004 bike is for a plastic seat unit (everything else is carbon), but ducati have been known to add higher spec bits (probably from a 999r) when they run out of the normal stuff.

they did a similar thing with the 999 when some bikes suddenly got ohlins forks

The 999R gets the carbon seat, along with the race system which I don't believe the 749R gets

At the 2003 nec show on the ducati stand was the first time the 749r was seen in public and hence i was hooked and bought one, the one on that day had a plastic seat unit, march 1st 2004 picked my 749r up and it had a plastic seat unit, i also beleive that only the 999r has a carbon one, iv seen about 4 other 749r,s in the last 18mnths and i cant say iv seen one with a carbon seat hope this helps.
