V5? How to get one?
Anyone have any experience with getting a V5 for bike built from bits, maybe even a custom frame? How hard is it to get one? Is it even possible? Will it be on a Q plate (not fussed)?

All info appreciated.

Cheers, Rushjob. I've had a good browse through the VOSA website. Doesn't look half as bad as I thought. Looks like lights, horn, side stand, keyed ignition, 98dB, etc. and £70!

I've done a couple of Harris Magnums with new frames, the first a inspector visited me to check out the bike and take away the paperwork, receipts etc.
Second time I had to trailor it down to a place where they inspected several vehicles that day, you had to submit the paperwork in advance and if the inspection went well (mine did) and I handed over the money including road tax I was able to pick up the Tax the next day which had the registration number on it. Next it was off to get the registration plate made and around to the MOT station to inform them what the reg No. was so they could update there records as it had been MOT'd on the Frame number. Logbook followed about a week later.
Mine both ended up on Q plates even though the second scored enough points for a age related plate.
Each local DVLA centre has its own little traits, if I known this at the time I would have went to a differnt one where they would have given a age related plate.

This was over 10 years ago and things have changed since but Rushjobs link gives good info and maybe someone like John Schoon at the Street Specials owners club may be able to give some useful tips

Somehow, I had a suspicion you'd be the man in the know, Kev.
