Ive done it, no stability probs and its better for turning in, full stop. And the 180 probably suits the 5.5 rim anyway"

Got the 190 pro supercorsa sc2 on the back, at the same time my friend fitted a 180 Supercorsa Sc2 directly at the track..Donington this summer.
Both 999 std, standard setting. I think the only difference is that the 190 has a small amount of rubber more that makes the bike turning a little bit slower, in my (rookie) opinion give you a little margin more of safety while round the cormers on a track day. On the same speed, one following the other, with pictures that showing the same leaning angle, with the 190 you still have a minimal line of "chicken strips" while the 180 is on the edge.
By the way, with the winter coming, I would choose another tyre... unless you are looking at track days.

i was originally using 180's but earlier this summer i went back to 190's.
IMHO the 999 turns more than quick enough with a 190 i dont think 180's are really worth it for a road bike.
I have found it more stable went pushed hard on the edge of the tyre.
If the WSBK lads are now using 200 section tyres....

Blimey, I think (and did) exactly the same as Chillo here. I kept running out of 180 on the back of my 999S this summer.

Looks like I accidentally made a right decision!

Toseland had gone to 200's this year with some success and tried one at Brands, if recall correctly. I'm not sure he was entirely happy with it at Brands though.
