Can i just buy a Sky+box from Ebay & connect it myself or will this have to be done via Sky themselves , Sky are doing a deal till the end of the month on Sky+ and multiroom And i am thinking of getting Sky+

Also my own Sky box is playing up can i just do the same from Ebay for the STD box

Any info would be good

Sky only supply the card and subscriptions. The H/W is usless without a card.

I think you will need sky to do it as they have to change part of the dish as sky+ needs two cables running from the dish to the new box and if you have multiroom a third cable goes directly from the dish...

I think you will find that the alteration to the dish is just a twin lmb that you can buy or you can use 2 dishes [I do] as for changing your sky box thats ok but you do have to regester it with them or they will keep telling you you have the wrong card in your box & I think they can switch it off.

sky+ is excellent, recording, pausing live tv, even if you miss the start of a program push record and it will record the entire thing, even what you missed.

Sky plus for £49
Found this on a web forum. Could be worth a try to get Sky+ at a discount.

"Sky don't advertise this but they actually provide sky+ box for £49 incl installation if you threaten to cancel your subscription - but only if you call 08705 488485.

Use any other number and they will just fob you off. If you say you know someone who got the same deal recently, they can hardly say know.

I got this deal a month ago and phoned them yesterday on behalf of a friend and got it for £65.

It's all a bit pot luck - the more boxes they have in stock, the more likely you are to get it for £49.

If you say you're going to cancel and swap to a rival cable company (which is what I did), they really don't like that and you'll almost certainly get the deal.

Their standard response is to offer it to you for £99 - then £65 - then, if you're lucky with timing, £49.

Give it a go - you have nothing to lose. Lay it on thick that you want to stay with Sky but cable is cheaper all round."

I think you can use your original card in a new box, but you have to pair the card with the box, there is a specific keying sequence to do this i can find out if it helps??

I have got SKY+ and really am please with it.
