Skoda....sheeeet or sheeeeet haaaaat !!??
ok so I visited the dark side trying to find a way around our not non-contributory company car scheme (public sector....) and test drove a Fabia vRS 130 oil burner and it was superb, quick, good handling, quiet, comfy, quick (oh I said that already) and I really liked it, so do I put my badge prejudice to one side and get one (and a cardigan) or is it a wholly daft idea and I should go for the Audi after all...............(tight git???) :P

my mate has one and really likes it. there is not really an equivalent audi, A3 is probably closest, but is it bigger and will cost a lot more. having said that i really like the A3.

I am of an age were I can remember all the Skoda jokes .... and they still stick now.

If you really are looking for value for money then I guess it's a good buy ... but, buy it and wait for all the jokes to start

Rob,

The 1st three on that list ALL use the same drivetrain as they are all from he Volkswagen/Audi?Seat stable, as is the Skoda, but truth be told, the Skodas are still built (down) to a price and depreciate like a bitch .... smart moneys on the Mk V Golf mate .. wish I'd bought one .... nowt wrong with my car but drove a Golf the other day, just feels "right" ...

You're not old enough for a Civic ..

If your looking for a fast impressive diesel car try a Volvo S60 D5 SE.

Buy 1 that is ex-demo or a year or so old to get the best deal.

160 odd BHP, 5 cylinder 2.4ltr, average 47mpg, fully loaded with leather and everything. Awesome bit of kit.

now this is on a company lease, so its just how much my monthly contribution is yeah so depeciation's not my problem (unless it increases lease cost) but contribution is hence no Beemers! Golf or A3 is a poss and the new Civic is stunning see www.honda.co.uk for more dodgy badge viewing (Nelly)....
