You guessed it, the cold weather turns up and the battery turns up its toes. Where is the cheapest place to buy a replacement guys? Moto Rapido have one on the shelf at £90 squid. is that my best option?

it's the going rate, but, if your bike is under 2 years old claim one on the warranty.

Bike has a two year warranty...battery has a six month warranty!!! My generator went bad but I initially thought it was the battery. The guy at the dealer told me this because I was at 5 1/2 months when it happened. Guess it's possible he could have been blowing smoke. I never went and got a second opinion since it turned out to not be the battery.

My battery went all useless at the beginning of this year, just over a year into the warranty period. The dealer replaced it FOC.
If your battery was fried because of a faulty generator, or if it went T/U for any other reason, it should be covered by the two year warranty.
I say "Go for it".

General opinion in the UK seems to be that dealers will cover the battery under the 2 year warranty if they are being decent about it. I've had the offer, but didn't do it because I found the fault that I thought to be a weak battery to be things like loose earth connection or dodgy connection on the Optimate lead so it wasn't charging properly.

JHP swapped my 18 month old battery under warranty ... no issues at all.

£90 is the price for a genuine replacement part from Ducati.
Should be able to get one for about £55 ( GS ) at Italia Moto if it's not under warranty.
It's GT12-B4. The originals can be very short lived, Ducati now send different batteries out with the bikes that come with a acid pack, rather than being "ready to use!!"
As Henry say's check the main earth, it fastens on to the rear cylinder on the l/h side.Even if it seems tight loosen it and clean the contact area, if poss. give it a coat of vaseline or similar to stop corrosion, then retighten it.
