Polishing Exhust

Brought a new bike and the exhust looks crap and dirty so I thouhgt as I cant ride it these winter months I would try to polish it, can anyone give me the basic steps of how they did thiers ?
I have tried with some GOOD metal polish and a T shirt ans alot of elbow grease, IT comes up alot shinier but not that CHROME look some poeple have gotten.

take it apart and give it to the pros.
otherwise get a buffing wheel and polish but watch out that you don't burr it

I did mine using a mop and polish, you need to start off fairly coarse and gradually use finer paste. The bright "chrome" effect will dull to a nice lustre once you've ridden the bike a bit. It isn't too bad a job with the system taken off so you can deal with the individual sections.

If you want to do a really spot on job you'll need to use a bit of light emery to get rid of the forming marks from the downpipes and headers.

No but a m8 of mine works for a boat builder & they make all their own stainless fittings & have a polishing shop.
