Header pipe protection - suggestions please!
I'm putting together a plan of attack for my 900ss and after assembling my newly acquired spaghetti headers - they look as though they need some protection from the elements.

eg - I want them to look good / last as long as possible.

I already have some PJ1 silver exhaust enamel spray that I could use or I wonder if there is something more effective and long lasting (but cheap, you understand )

Cheers - Frank

Frank,

A company I used to use do an aluminium flame spray coating for exhausts which, leaves them in a dull silver/grey colour. This can then be overpainted using a heat-resistant paint. apparently it works very well. They are based in Redditch...

Redditch Shotblasting Co.Ltd
Unit 6, Bartleet Rd, Washford Ind Est, Redditch, Worcestershire B98 0DQ
Tel: 01527 529659

They did a very good job of them of some powder coating for me.

BTW...I spoke to Roy Thersby yesterday - very friendly and helpful. I'm dropping off all 3 sets of wheels for coating to him plus he's gonna have a look at that damaged front rim too. His prices seem very reasonable. Thanks for the tip.

Cheers - I seem to remember a company in Newton Aycliffe of all places that used to do stove enamelling type work but that was years ago.

Good point - but I never found anyone who did a good one Nigel.

There is a German company that does an extended mudguard - but thats an expensive way of doing things

yeah not the most attractive bits of kit .

There are quite a few Carbon fibre fetishists on here maybe they know someone who could knock one up to fit your bike
