Bike won\'t start
Just went to fire up the 998 after a bit of minor fettling and it wouldn't turn over! Bastid!

It's back on the optimate now but I'm not hopeful it will start afterwards. It ran fine before I broke my ankle and I didn't leave it on the optimate the whole time, just every now and then to fully charge it.

May need a new battery

Bump start it ya big cat. ;-)

That's awful rotten luck Tony, given everything else that's happened lately. Surely there must be something you can do...... Must get to Jerez!

TP,

Jump start it off yer car. Had to do it a few times on mine, usually after not using it for a fortnight or more. Not had a lot of success with optimates, oximisers and the like.

More hassle but if it won't start from the car with some jump leads yer in trouble.

Can't bump 'em, not unless you can run at 60 mph, too much compression on your particular model, maybe you need a foxley starter!

Ray.

Well, I have a Corse Slipper in it so bumping it would be an issue even if I could run - which I can't because of my ankle. Not taking into account compression issues.

I haven't tried jumping it off the car yet - I'll do that in the morning if it doesn't start after being on the optimate all night. I left it on the optimate for an hour and it turned over a bit but wouldn't catch. So I'll leave it until the morning and see what happens.

Bloody thing!

Yeah, if it won't start after being on the optimate all night and then starts fine off the car - new battery. I'll make sure it's sorted for friday.

How long has it been since you put fresh petrol in?

May be worth a look. I spent 2 days trying to start a CBR600 once, pulling my hair out trying all sorts.

Put fresh fuel in and it fired up straight away!

Fecking machines!!!
