900SL Register - Open At Last for submissions
Open for sumissions - SL Owners please visit http://www.900sl.com

This is old below VVVV
_____________________________

I've adapted a site template I have had for some time into a database / dynamic website for 900SL Owners. I did think about an MSN Space but it just wasn't flexible enough for use. There's a bit left to do but it's worth a look still.

Please visit by clicking HERE

It's fully controllable via browser (adding / editing new content, change layout etc etc) but if anyone wants a username and password you can also administer the site, update documents, create content, upload images etc etc and it has full DHTML editing features.

Please let me know what you think. You could use this style of template for any register in effect if anyone else needs it for something else.

I will make sure that no reg number, Vin number or any information that may be personal to an owner is displayed on the site and carry a disclaimer to state that all content for each machine belongs to the respective owners etc.

I haven't bought the domain name yet but if people think it's a good format for this regsiter i'll run with it. Any info greatly received. If anyone is any good with graphics I'd welcome that (because i'm average at best and coding is my forte)

Great little website - I like it.

Always good to see nice pics of SL's.

I think you would need to let members amend their own registration details (for bikes) otherwise you could be kept quite busy trying to keep it up to date.

I have a feeling there is another SL register somewhere ... but cant remember where?

Good luck - Frank

That's a good idea and i think I might do that instead. I searched the web and couldn't find anything except Ian's Yahoo group. Cheers.

Top work Ziggi! Frank's right though, a self-service form for each owner would be a much easier for you to maintain. If you can deal with uploading of photos then you're sorted, it should just run itself. Keep hacking...

Cheers,

Ali

Yes i've seen Edwyuns site which is just for FE's really hence my search for a superlight Mk1 to 5 register.

I'll add a self service form and pic upload - no probs - but the data will have to wait for ratification by an admin person before it goes live but it's better than typing each one in. I'll also add some code in to check that a user can't select a model number that someone already has.

cheers Ian - U2U with admin login details. Nearly there with it now. The self registration form is almost ready (demo available) and a slight rework needed on the data before going live.

Looking good Colin - I like how the pics open in new window as well, even with the tabs in the firefox broswer I use - its still nice to have the original window kept open.

ps - I do like the homepage pic of the SL with the fairing lower cut-out to show off the clutch cover as well - neat.

Cheers, Iconic. The Homepage pic changes every refresh but I've a few pics of that particular SL. It's had lots of mods. I'll launch the site in a few days once it's ready.
