MOT\'s to change soon
Just had the 996 MOT'ed and by all accounts in a few weeks/months its going to be a lot tougher, take twice as long and may mean fitting original cans if like me you have Carbon Termis. The garage had a new computer and about three thick manuals for the bloke to traul through, plus a day with a VOSA inspector. Big changes on the way me things. 4D

the mot test garage i use was on this system when i had my duke tested last september.i was looking through a leaflet at a test station that does trucks.cars and bikes.about motor cycle tests. under exhausts it said thay had to be secure and not to noisy. so if the tester is sympathetic to the cause, and a bit deaf you should be ok.just dont upset the tester when you turn up.

Guy who tested mine had more comments about the colour being too loud rather than the Termis...

last time I had an mot done the tester said (looking at ragged tyres) "nice to see it's used as intended"

He also commented on it sounding sweet.

Hello Fordie

Had mine MOT'ed two weeks ago, and one of the bulbs was not working on the break light (replaced the bulb no luck) explained that in theory it does have a break light, just not both working.

Passed with flying colours and with Carbon Termis.

"How do like them onions"

To be fair never thought it would pass.

Went to a garage that did custom choppers for my MOT, so he did not have an issue with after market exhausts being a bit loud, even though he heard me coming along the road.

My local place told me that carbon termis are okay, as long as they do not say 'not for road/highway use'. Mine did, but in a place you cannot see without removing them. Therefore they were acceptible.

This was for a full 50mm system on a 996, and they are much louder than the full 55mm system on my 998.

The big change is that you need to take your log book along as all MoTs will now be filed electronically.
