Ferry to France
Do P&O no longer sail to Le Havre from Portsmouth then? Which other operators are any good with things like tying the bike down etc? I haven't seen any of those 30% off offers in the mags like most years either.

We really want to be sailing from Portsmouth to cherbourg, le havre or similar.

Anyone got any promotional codes?

Oh and does it work out cheaper if you book nearer to the day you sail?

Don't MCN usually trot out some promotional ferry booking codes around this time of year?

Don't know about the 'nearer the day' pricing, seems to be as obscure as airline pricing.

Mind you, it's nice to know that people like Ryanair sometimes get it wrong big time. A couple of weeks ago on Saturday I visited my son in Dublin and got an outward flight from Luton (which is only 12 miles away from here) for 5 pence, by booking a month or so in advance. Turns out that the Ireland Vs Wales rugby fixture at Lansdowne Road was on the Sunday and Ryanair could've sold all the tickets several times over at full price to the hordes of rugby fans (from both sides) who wanted to get on the flight.

Blimey, thats a good deal Jools!

I've been keeping an eye open for promotions but it appears that P&O (who were in Ride, Bike etc) have reduced the number of routes that they sail so the offers have been stopped.

Just found them myself Charlotte, they look very cheap, less than half what the others were quoting! £81 instead of £180.

Its got to be Portsmouth i'm afraid as we need somewhere to store the car and trailer for a week.

Paul, there is a new company that has taken over on the Portsmouth to Le Havre route, don't have the name or link at work but i saw it in MCN a while ago, may be called Speed Ferries or Fast Ferries

Hi Shaun, yes i think its Direct Ferrys as above. Only trouble is they sail once a day and the outward trip leaves at 11.30pm and they dont have any cabins which might not go down too well!.

We are off to spain in mid may, and have the ferry booked from portsmouth to bilboa. we are then taking a week to ride back, and we were going to see nearer the time about which port to come back to so will be watching this thread.
would rather stay on the west side of france and trying to avoid the north east of france
