Mobile phone
Just over 2 years ago Simon very kindly sent me a new Samsung mobile phone that I've been using with my T-Mobile pay as you go SIM
Now it's started playing silly buggers! It switches itself off intermittently and starts itself up when I've turned it off for meetings at work! It's becoming unreliable and, well, just a bit old really!
As I don't use it to make too many calls (who would on PAYG) I've never considered a monthly contract, but that may be an option now.
What would be your recommendations (or does anyone have a cheap handset they want to get rid off/give away)?

How often do you makes calls now?

Would you make more calls on a contract phone?

Text anyone?

Search for 'siemens' on the argos website (this might work)..

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...go.x=6&go.y=14

I just bought the A62 for £19.95.....cant believe it - Its TRIBAND, has colour display, calculator, stopwatch and currency converter.

Cant go wrong!

If I had a contract phone I'd probably use it to call instead of annoying people with texts (once or twice day at present), and instead of my home phone which is on a 3, 2, 1 tarrif with NTL. I was hoping that NTL would bring out a mobile phone add on to their home package as I already have the phone, cable TV and broadband internet with em, but they say no, even after buying out Virgin Mobile!

Lin, I'm ashamed of you luvvy, you waited until just before my needs arose :P

Thanks Frank, I'll have a gander tonight.
(It's true what they say on't telly, if you want to know anything, ASK FRANK!)

If you're going to make calls, and say use the quota of free minutes, then I think a contract phone is better than PAG. Per minute costing is 1/4 on a contract. And, you can get text messaging packages as well. Some companies do stop the clock, speak for an 60 minutes, and only pay for 3.

It's worth shoppng around, and see what deal suits you. I prefer dealing straight with the Vodafone (I find I get a better deal on the handset), than going into the shop, and having the hard sell, because if I'm honest, I want to drop the spotty oik of a salesman who knows naff all, except his commission.

Thanks Mark, food for thought, I'll have to try to spend some time browsing this interweb net thingy rather than just loitering around Ducati message boards late at night

- Ask Frank !!! I like it - think I might have to change my ID.

As an aside Tesco's of all places were rated reasonably for mobile services - not sure about contract though.

Frank (ask).
