996 follow on
Been trying to sort out my 996 uncertain starting problems after stopping for fuel last time and having to push her home because she would'nt fire up even after a 40 mile warm up. Normally ride on dipped h/l but after having this trouble decided not to use the lights . Bike then had no trouble starting after turning her off and starting up again.
Thinking this must have some thing to due with the Rectifier/Regulator as the charging Altenator its self seemed OK. OYB Aylesbury sent one across £80 turned out to be the wrong one. Then found out mine had had a new 2001 Altonator fitted by my previous owner, my bikes a 1998 . Once that was sorted, fitted the said new part and BINGO charging the battery just under 14v at 3000rpm. Turned lights on, every thing came up bright and the charge stayed the same. Just thought Id let you peeps no as it may happen to you one day Have a nice day as they say. 4D
