Side fairing compatibility
Ciao again people of much Ducati knowledge.

Just a quickie (I did a search)

Can I attach an old pre 2002 (with sexy opening/vents) to a new 2003 or later frame (which comes with the newer closed fairing) with no modifications? Are all the attachment points there and compatible or does one have to revert to some serious modification which will make the whole thing not worthwhile?

Thanks in advance for any replies, Pants.

If you're trying to fit 996 style (large vent openings at top of side fairings) to a 998 (testastretta engined) bike - then you'll need to modify the vents, or move the coils. If its track fairings, you'll be able to cut the back out of the recessed vents and it'll be OK.

The 998 fairings (no vents) will fit the earlier bikes with no mods.

Thanks rattler. The idea was to fit the old style fairng to a late 2003 748R.
I take it it's not really feasible then? Buggahhhhh.

Thanks for the help.

Also I believe the later bikes have a slightly larger opening around the sidestand to allow for the stand cut-out switch.

Although personally the first thing I did to my bike was take the damned switch off anyway.
