999 Coolant filling
After my coolant hose mishap on the IOM I intend to do a proper repair when I am off this Thursday. When I had the fairing off I saw that the radiator links to a black expansion bottle on the front right hand side. Should this be full of coolant or empty? Mine is actually empty. The radiator was fullish when checked at the radiator cap.

if you look in your manual it will tell you to have the coolant between the two lines on the bottle /when engine is cold

If you look at the little tank from the left hand side of the bike you will see it has some level markers on it. The coolant should be between the 2 markers.

Its a bit awkward to see, you sort of have to stick your head under the head light enclosure then look by the fork leg.

Pain to see, use a torch or inspection light to help.

Fill the system via the rad' filler cap and then top up the expansion bottle so that the coolant is between the lines.

Take it for a good run at normal running temp and then check the level in the bottle.
