Mother Nature
Last night we had a thunder storm. It was pretty normal stuff until there was a huge bang at the same time as a flash. It was like an explosion. I was sure it had hit something so went out into the street to see all the neighbours looking at something on the floor. When I walked over there was a poor blackbird all naked and smouldering with its feathers stroon about with that singed eyebrow smell in the air and just by it on the road surface was a meter across scorch mark.

The bird was a little over cooked so I didnt eat it!

Anyone else got any strange mother nature on a killing mission stories?

Well...not quite, but we did experience the same storm yesterday....and actually very similar events (minus the bird!).

I was getting ready to leave the house when there was an almighty bang...again like you say, more of an explosion that typical loud lightning.

I went outside expecting to see a house in pieces or a car in flames...but nothing as dramatic.

Fcuk me it was loud though!

Jeez, yeah it lashed it down last night in Swindon. I love watching thunder and lightning though - easily pleased, me

I got some great footage last year of a monster lightning strike straight into 2 doors down's back garden.

This is a strike last storm season on the new Q1 building on the Gold Coast, QLd. Lights up the beach like daylight.
I don't know if this will work but I'll give it a go, never posted a pic before. Cheers.
