Best bag???
Due to my shoulder/elbow injuries,i am unable to carry anything in a rucksack,so am looking for a Bag that will strap to the rear seat unit of the SP5.Anybody got any recomendations? There was one i believe that was both a rucksack and seat hump bag,but can't remember what it was called.Any ideas welcome, but NOT a tankbag!!

Hiya mate,
If you remeber from Cadwell about a million years ago - I had one of the oxford tailpacks on my ss and apart from removing the side panels, it worked a treat. I did use some anti-slip matting on the seat which I could of maybe used on the panels as well but, since it was a TD, it seemed sensible to leave em off anyways.

I think I remember the unit you are thinking of - a hard-shelled, teardrop shaped thing - if its the same item, dont bother hardly any room inside it.

Got my bag from Infinity in York and they had a good discounted selection lastime I was there.

Finally, I know Givi do a topbox / platform system for the 900ss maybe they do one for the T8 as well ?

Good luck - Frank

ps - In terms of keeping the bike looking good though - afraid to say I'd be looking to a bagster tank bag.

Still favour the Ventura system if you are going to do serious miles making "good progress" Not sure if the brackets are available to fit your subframe but well worth looking into IMHO.

Couldn't you get some brackets adapted ? I've yet to find "soft luggage" that works well; burns on your exhaust, slides about on the back of the bike and is generally a right royal pain in the butt. We do some pretty long trips at times and I just got fed up with the luggage being a pain.

Have you got any potential Ventura mounting points on the subframe ?

I have one of the Oxford tailpacks, took it to the IOM last year when it rained almost the whole way and it was great, although I havent got an 888.

i have an oxford tailpack and have never used it!!?? why!! seems like alot of trouble to get it on and off - and you need loads of bungee points, from memory there is a strap which velco's under the seat (not so good on a 748 ?) then 4 bungies from underneath and a further 2 bungees on each side, all done i guess when the bag is ful?? - pity it's not like a tank bag where you fit a "base" and then zip on/off a bag onto the base bit.
