Lost a good mate today
RTA during our early morning Sunday Run. It happened near Midhurst on the A272 a little before 7am today.
Glen, a good mate, was killed instantly in a collision between his ZX10R and a Goldwing travelling in the opposite direction. He is survived by his wife Carol who was with us on the run. I can only imagine the horror she faced when she pulled up to the scene. My thoughts are with her right now.
The rider of the Goldwing was also killed instantly and his pillion passenger suffered some terrible injuries. I feel awful for them.
My friend Graham, who was was following Glen, had no time to avoid the wreckage. His 998 ploughed into the Goldwing. He is in a stable condition but has leg, wrist and spinal injuries plus a ruptured diaphragm. It is thought that his spinal column is intact and we can be grateful for that blessing. His partner Jackie is being looked after by family and is in good hands.
My thanks go to the emergency services who quickly appeared to take care of the injured and to the people who stopped to give help and support at the scene.
The suddenness in which a normal day spent in the company of mates can turn to tragedy and grief is appalling. I'm sorry to share such awful news but I can't hold this back.
RIP Glen, we are going to miss you.
