748 Clutch question
So when is a clutch worn out ???

Seems a silly question although my 2001 9000mile 748s has just been serviced.
I was told that the clutch is totally knackered and needs a complete replacement (plates, springs, boss(?) the lot).

It rides, it pulls, and does not slip. OK there are the occaisional judders
when pulling away from a standstill but not consistantly so I'm at a loss as to what is faulty.
I suppose as I'm used to how it behaves I dont feel there is anything wrong.

If the comment is as a result of a visual inspection and the condition of the basket would this ultimatly be what is being described ?

What is the consequence of not making the replacement ?

Suggestions for the best (affordable) place to get hold of the replacement parts.

I got 18000 miles out of mine before it needed replacing i suppose how you ride depends on the life of the clutch somewhat my bike never went near a track and to be honest i didn't ride it all that hard .
It did get very noisy towards the end though

I got all the parts off ebay

Who is telling you it needs replacing ie:which dealer (if your allowed to do that on here that is? )
seems a bit excessive for only 9000 mls ??

Who serviced it? A lot of Ducati "non" experts will tell you the clutch has had it when it reality it'll keep going for ages.
