I have a major problem at the moment with an old classic car which I am getting back on the road for a wedding in early september.
My problem is this.
The car in question is a Ford 1934 V8 (model 40 US model)2 door coupe. There is a problem with the ignition coil which requires the unit being replaced or rebuilt. Having looked and contacted everyone in the states etc for a replacement item , no luck, best case one firm will repair it , but need allmost 2 months at least to sort it out, and is way to long.
Does anyone know of a possible uk sorce of these parts, I have given up with nordian services in north yorks, the guy never answers his phone, at all.
Next option is getting someone who does repairs or rebuilds classic car coils, if anyone knows of such a person orcompany , please drop me a line asap , thanks.
another option that crossed my mind was this, is it possible to bypass the original coil somehow, which has to stay fitted becuase it mounts directly onto the top of the distributor, also into the same, and add a third party coil to take over. A case of using the exsisiting coil as a pass through sort of thingy if you get my drift.
Car uses a positive earth , 6 volt system, very basic to say the least.
does anyone have any thoughts on this problem, and how I can resolve it asap.
this is a pic of the said distributor and shows how the coil fits the top etc.
