If it ain't one thing it's another. Took my T8 to get some part worn Dunlops fitted today. Thought I'd be smart since I don't yet have a front paddock stand and take the tyres to the fitters in the car, then ride the bike there to get them fitted.

Everything was going to plan until I glanced in my mirror. When I looked at the road again, a brick had just fallen off a skip lorry in front of me - which was even more annoying because I had been leaving a huge gap between me and the truck just in case something stupid happened - like a brick falling off .

The brick was still tumbling while I was braking like ffffffff..and then off the brakes trying to flick around it, but to no avail. I clipped it with the right hand side of my front wheel and now I've got a bent front wheel rim. Luckily, the pressure stayed in the tyre and I managed to crawl home at not much more than walking pace. Needles to say the rim is too damaged to even consider fitting another tyre.

Anyone got any experience of wheel straightening services like Hagon? Do you trust a dinged wheel after it's been straightened? Or am I looking at trying to get a replacement T8 wheel?

Jools, no advice from me I'm afraid, but you seem to me to be involved in a vicious hand-to-hand battle with life at the moment - where your T8 is concerned!

Jools - I had a 5-spoker repaired recently. The repairer did an excellent job on it but, tbh I've not had the courage to try it! There's always that nagging doubt. IMO get it assessed by all means but, if I were you I'd start looking for a wheel.

Hmmmm....I wonder if I could convince Mrs Jools that I really needed a front one of these, in black, to replace the damaged one?

Oh well, another thought occurs. Since the 888 wheels with scimitar shaped spokes don't come up too often secondhand, could I fit a later Brembo 3 spoke like the one on my ST? I know the axle diameter is different, but I heard that's easily sorted by using a different bearing with a smaller ID

hi jools i used hagons on a 748 front wheel years ago,they did a very good job,did thousands of miles on it,about 65 quid including carriage.ss wheels 94 95 96 are the same though from memory hope this helps dave.

They can be repaired jools...ive just had to lend my standard 888 rear wheel to a monster riding mate until he gets sorted..rich at louigi moto is sorting his...have a look here...

Thanks Dave for answering my 'can you trust it' question - I was going to have Hagon do it if anyone because I've used their shocks and stuff in the past. They're an OK outfit, and they're not too far from me to pop the wheel in the car and gerrit done.

Cheers Nat, I saw that on UKMOC, the bend on my rim is pretty similar (oooer misus ) but not quite as vee shaped. The rim has about the same gap between it and the tyre bead, but it's spread over a bigger section of wheel so it's a longer gentler curve. I'll get a piccy of it tomorrow and see if it makes sense to repair it or bin it.

Jools,

I've used Hagon for a fair old dent in a Marchesini before - they did a great job. I'd recommend them, no problem at all.
