998 battery options
The battery on the 998 is showing the early signs of giving up the ghost after four years.

It is the original GS battery and Gel filled??

The options seem to be go lead acid code number YT12 BBS or stick with the Gel types YT12 ABS

Looked at odyssey batteries but don't really want to modify the battery mount.

Anyone else had to buy one recently?

TIA,

Ray

I just replaced with the same type as standard, the small shop I went to didn't have it listed but same as a R1, also find they use the same battery on later Supersports and Monsters

You could try:-

http://www.mdsbattery.co.uk/defaultuk.asp

Give them a call as they do not list everything on their website & are very helpful.

Hi Ray, I looked into this on my 998R and I would have preferred an Odyssey battery, like I had on my 996, but I didn't want to modify the tray so much. In the end I stayed with the OEM battery and just bought one cheaply through a local supplier. It saved a lot of hassle and got me going again.
