Alternater nut
What is the torque setting for the alternater nut on a '00 996.

Mine has worked it's way loose

Before you do it up, check the flat washer behind it is in the correct place and not dropped down.

I had the same thing and the washer got mashed by the gears and part of it found its way onto the sump plug.

Do a search on here for more info on this problem.

yep you need to strip it down to make sure it all goes back correctly

Flat washer is split.

Have been told a different figure for the torque 270nm.


Sounds quite high this one.

thanks for the settings i'v just had the same problem with my 996 but was told to look and see if the gears had been damaged.Wicked all fine.
