Hi Gang!

I have an ol'900SS (1995 carb model). The engine has been rebuilt having had a cylinder stud snap.

Since getting the bike back from the man with the spanners, the bike has had a misfire from 3200-5500rpm. The engine felt really flat too. The misfire only starts from 90 on the temp gauge, and is terrible over 100 degrees.

I have just collected the bike for the 3rd/4th time. The power is back but I suspect the flat spot is still there. The carbs have been stripped. And everything checked....so I'm told.

Can anyone offer any solutions?

Sorry to hear of the on-going saga with your 900.

If it was me, I 'd now be taking the carbs apart myself to check and of course, the float bowls should come off real easy since its been done recently!

Worn needles + wrong settings
Emulsion tubes worn.
Diaphragms
Float height settings
Carb balance

are all among the things I'd be checking.

Plugs and plug colour is a nice easy check to do.

Are you also saying there is no mis-fire from cold?

DaveG - I didnt have any problems joining the Yahoo group - as long as you have a Yahoo account before going in I think it works ok - or have you found otherwise?

My ISP is BTYahoo and the groups mess up all my settings and passwords asking me for my core password all the time,not letting me join seperately etc.
I had this problem when Scottch set up his Scottish Ducati groups too,I just gave up in the end and treat them as unavailable.

The mechanic did say that one of the plugs (the rear I thnk) was blackened. He said 1 idle screw was seized and one choke stuck on (I think he said?). I have taken to taking whatever he says with a very large handful of salt tho!

I dont ride it hard till its good and warm, but up to 80 degrees it seemed to run fine. So no, I dont think it does do it when cold.

On the way back from the garage yesterday. At 4000rpm, or 5000rpm once the temp went above 90 degrees gasing the throttle hard it splutters b4 it takes off. Ther was no sign of this prior to the work being carried out.
