I just bought a shiny new pair of Oxtar boots at the scottish bike show,a couple of sizes too big to allow them to zip up properly-with a bit of room to allow for my leathers.
Alas,I find they still wont close properly at the top,I,m finding this a bit of a common problem with sports boots, some makes wont even zip over my anklebone let alone my leg.
Now, before any of you start about pie eating,I'm a fairly average 34 ish waist size,and I've had a pair of the overpriced ghastly smx+'s for the last couple of years,not because I like the tacky "cylon warrior" styling but rather I could get them on properly.
How do you more generously proportioned guys manage?,Ive found some makes easier than others,but Ive always thought of myself as an average size.
Having managed to smear the toe sliders of two previous pairs of boots I'm reluctant to go for a more touring style,losing weight is easy for me but will mean only replacing leathers as the ankle remains the same size.
Has anyone else here got the same problem? and if so how did you get round it?

I have the same problem it took me ages to find a pair that fitted and even they were tight around the calf muscle and they were a size too big.The make were Garne but after 3 years the zip has broken and i'm back to square 1 again,it looks like i will have to locate the nearest Garne stockist as all others i've tried do not fit.

Alpinestars SMX plus or Supertechs should fit , go and try them

I've got a pair of smx plus boots,and dont like them,they're not well made and fell apart and cost way too much for me to get another pair ,I also feel they were probably designed for Liberace!, supertechs are the same firm so I dont want to risk £200+ on something that'll last a year or so.
Oh! and they scratched the hell out of my heel plates on the bike.
Its not too much to ask for a reasonably priced boot that'll fit....is it?

I bought some Daytona black leather boots, not fancy, quite plain really and fit very well and i have large calf muscles, notice I don`t say the fat word!

And........they cost £100

I am in the 'large' camp and found no other sports boots to fit but the Oxtars, so you must have calves like the Hulk

Seriously, I found the real problem was in the ankle area, not the calf, so I have had my leathers made slighly shorter for this. Might work??

Hate, hate, hate mine...
Exactly the same trouble.
Ladies boots are even worse...
I ended up opting for geezer boots from Gericke but even they are still too tight. I still keep trying loads on (as is the thing with women and shoes) but still cant get a pair that fits comfortably around my calf.
I am a fairly average sized 12, 5'7" (so calves should be fairly average) and a size 5 1/2- 6 shoe size.
Love alpinestars but I just haven't found a pair that fit.
There doesn't seem to be much choice for women if you are on a budget

Strangely enough, I remember trying a pair of boots on in my local BMW shop quite a while back (well, I was having a ride out on a Boxer cup as well...Oh dear...but thats another story).

I thought the touring boots were really nice....and I believe they do ladies styles as well....

I'm not a big bloke but have pretty meaty calf muscles... I use Alpinestars GP supertechs.... Bit tight at first, but they soon stretch to accomodate !
