No April Fool\'s joke...
Came across this on another forum and thought it might be worth posting. I've read it early this morning and I bothers me more and more as I think about it.

I saw that last night from another site .... its mad, especially the building with the washing still hanging up and the apartment where it looks like the guy went fishing and was never allowed to return ...

Very, very sobering.

One of the most thought provoking things i've seen. Very scary. Nuclear power,is it worth it? and that comment doesn't come from a Greenpeace member.

Yep, seen this before a while ago. Only had a quick flick through it last time but may spend more time reading it this time around.

It is, quite simply, amazing.

Chernobyl
It's real sad for the children, some of them are quite grown up now, but with poor long term prospects because of the radiation they received.

I donated a Playstation & games last year to some Chernobyl children, it's not much, but I hoped it would let them have some fun.

My 2p.
I spent 20 years analyzing accident scenarios for nuclear plants and designing equipment to mitigate damage that could possibly lead to radiation release. I'm convinced that there's enough defense-in-depth and equipment redundancy to address any postulated failure event.

The question is ... are we smart enough to anticipate all the credible accidents and factor in operator errors correctly. The lessons of Chernobl and Three Mile Island say no. Just my 2p.

Some incredibly haunting and powerful images. In today's world, it's not far away. So strange to think that part of the earth is uninhabitable because of mankind. I wonder what else we've got planned
By the way, I'm no tree-hugger, just a concerned member of the human species!

As said before very sobering especially when you see some of the photos left behind.

Whilst not the result of a nuclear accident, what's the name of the ghost town in Cyprus on the east coast? Apparntly there are still things like washing hanging out etc there. It uised to be a tourist resort and was very well knwon. I've seen it from a distance but I can't remember its name.
