I know its been covered before But!!!!!!!!!
Timing belt tensioning tool. Thinking of buying one, but don't fancy the £320 cost.

I seem to remember some time back that someone suggested that a ford one would do the job.

Can anyone enlighten me.

Speak to Neil at Cornerspeed - 01623 758877...if I remember correctly he has a non - Ducati branded one similar to the Ford one that he may part with...
Worth a try!

I've just bought one from CA-Cycle works. The exchange rate makes it a good deal, and yes it came in at just over £200........but then the vat and import tax took another £60.
They won't mark it as "gift" or such like so expect the tax man to nobble you.
I do have the snap on tool going spare now though
Cost me £160 and it works just fine. Access on certain bikes can be a little fiddly, but it does the job and calibrates against the factory tool very well.

Jon, the answer to does it work on 748/916 motors is Yes, I have used my Snap-on tool for several belt changes including those on the race bike and the current road 916BP which made almost 105bhp at the rear wheel the other day at Moto Rapido so cam timing/ belt tension can't be to far off the mark

Thanks for the Info Kev. What I should have asked was, is it any good on a 998.

hope so as the 748RS now has a 998 motor and will soon be fitting the new belts I had off Nattyboy, Nelly said to use the same setting as I use for the 916
