Where can I jack the bike up from?
The bike is currently up on a front stand and an Abba stand (thanks to CK for lending it to me ) but I need to drop the forks, obviously this isnt a possibility while its up on the front stand...

Can I use a car jack under the exhaust pipe or should I remove the exhaust system first and jack it up from under the crankcase?

I removed the horizontal cylinder pipe and manifold and placed a bit of wood over the exhaust port between the studs and put the trolley jack onto that

Problem is to get at one of the bolts securing the manifold to the engine, I need to take the cooler off etc.

Will the bike tip forward if i jack it up from the crankcase?

Two axle stands either side of the bike & slide a bar wrapped in a rag or a big stick or a very stale baguette under the sump at the front & rest it on the stands......

Well... you get the idea.....

What would your mum say to you bolting a lump of 4x2 to the ceiling. This is what I did for Pedro. I drilled 2 holes first then bolted a 9mm ring bolt to it before fixing. Other than that, nick the kids swing from next door and throw a rachet strap over it. Put it underneath the frame close to the headstock and lift away.
