Question Tyre pressures and wear patterns
Hi all,

just wondering what pressures you guys run on your STs.

I normally run as stated in the manual, so about 43 in the rear when two up and loaded.
I notice that the rear tyre develops 'ears' on the edge of the tread pattern.
My tyre guy reckons this is a sign of under inflation, and one of the guys I ride with said over the weekend my rear tyre looks flatter than others bikes.

I've always had this wear pattern, and assumed it was down to the manner in which I ride (sprinting between bends, hard on lean / engine braking / power).

I'm currently running a Diablo Strada, and did notice that putting a few extra psi seemed to make the bike feel more stable in high speed bends (especially if they were bumpy). I get the same with other makes though (avon, contis, bridgestones).

So, what do you guys run ? (tyres and psi / bar)

Cheers,
John.

But you've got evenly distributed ballast Bradders.....tee hee

The tyre wear you talk of is no big deal, it happens on lots of bikes and tyre manufacturers. My supercorsa pros don't do it on my 600rr, but I do get it on my Bridgestones on my CB500. It can be because of the power coming out of a corner if you are still lent over as you have already mentioned. It doesn't effect the dry grip, but be careful in the wet as you have less of a sharp leading edge on the tyre.
